Did y’all know I am famous? I am. My hubby calls me “Miss Hollywood.” I was stopped while speeding. The deputy asked for my autograph. Isn’t that the way of famous folks, giving out your autograph, except I have to pay for the honor. Totally sucks. Need to pay closer attention. Damn lead foot.

I have shopped until I can’t move around in my house without bumping into something so I thought it was time to start getting some things listed. Besides, I have traffic school and a ticket to pay for.

Free Patterns

There are always people looking for free patterns whether for the holidays or everyday sewing. There are a couple of blogs devoted to free patterns but not always is there a chance to get a free E-book to save and use. That is until now. Brother, those wonderful people who make great embroidery machines, has put together an E-book of holiday gifts. The pictures are great and the instructions easy to follow.

Decorating with Fabric

OK, so I am tired of the way my house looks but I don't have enough money for a redo. I would like new curtains, pillows, tablecloths, and whatever else will make my house look good. Sound familiar? Lucky for me, I can sew. I don't have to go to Wally World and buy cheap "made in China" objects for my home. The only thing I really need is good fabric and a good pattern. The need for the right fabric is obvious but why a pattern? After all, curtain panels are straight with a hem on one end and a pocket for running the rod on the other. True but a pattern can be a guide. A good pattern gives you hints, sizes, and shows you what measurements you need to make a project successful. Here's a good curtain and drapery pattern. The pattern has variations I can use in the living room (drapes) and in the kitchen. Another project I have in mind is a duvet. I want to redo my bedroom. Even though the idea for the duvet is in my head, certain measurements need to be right. Same with the decorative pillows. I would hate to get started and cut only to find the cuts weren't the right size and I have to buy more fabric. Saving a few dollars on a pattern could end up costing big dollars in the end not to mention wasted time and frustration. Having a buddy help with a project is priceless, even if the buddy is paper.

Sewing for the Home

When looking for patterns to sew, I often think of clothing patterns. With every seasonal change there are new patterns and styles that come off the runways and having a guide is almost a necessity for me as I try to make fashionable clothes. Yet there are patterns available to guide a person through home decorating that make the curtain or bedspread project a success. I often forget about these patterns and dive into a project head first with great intentions only to be disappointed by my project that doesn't come out quite right. Here are two fantastic patterns from my Artfire shop for home decor sewing. Imagine having a storage ottoman in your living room to stash the afghan when company comes? Extra seating with storage, perfect for an apartment or small house. The window treatments could spruce up a kitchen quick.
