Sewing For Home..Tips, Measurements, Ideas

Sewing is a way to use your creativity and express yourself. The problem a lot of people run into is how much fabric do is needed to make an idea become reality. There are some general rules and guidelines that are helpful. Some things, like mattress sizes, bedspreads, and tablecloths are standard sizes. Knowing those sizes before cutting or buying fabric can save a lot of time and money (both I consider pretty darned important).
While going through my stash (piles and piles of stash) I found a few papers that I thought would help anyone when sewing.

These papers were originally freebies from the good folks at JoAnn Fabrics back in 1991. All good information. Hope the information will help.

I was going through my stash (a very big pile, thank you very much) and found this little book called Sewing Tips. Some of the tips are kind of way out there but others are so worth repeating that I thought I'd share.
Use a gingham checked tablecloth on your table under your regular tablecloth. When you are ready to sew, just pull back the everyday tablecloth. You have an instant grid for cutting, measuring, and drafting.
Happy Sewing!
