New Listings at GoofingOff Sewing

 I have so much going on that I almost don't know where to start. The first fundraiser for our medical mission is done and it was a success! Just the right amount of chili, cornbread, and fixings, lots of friends and family, and donations to buy medical supplies for those in need. The venison chili came out great. We had chili to go and that sold out, too. We might hold another fundraiser closer to Christmas featuring our Mission Cookies. 

This week is our yard sale with proceeds going to our mission expenses. We need money for translators, food and lodging, and transportation.  It'll give me a chance to clear some things out that I haven't had a chance to list on Etsy. Folks have donated a few things to help out. I have a number of vintage rolling pins and teapots to set out among other things. Wish us luck.

In the meantime I have new patterns in GoofingOff Sewing.....great holiday dresses for the girls, outfits for the ladies, and a few things for the guys with just enough time to put together a few gifts.

Simplicity 5287 Jiffy Ties....Straight and Bow Ties, 1970's Style 

Ties in a Jiffy pattern....be still my heart. The envelope doesn't look too good but the pattern is a treasure. The only part that was cut was the bow tie and it is still usable. Great look for a wedding party.

Mid Week Rummage: The Sunshine Look

Summer fashions a la 1964.

Needle and Yarn Magazine, Volume 1, Number 3

Simple dresses were sleeveless or with raglan sleeves. Princess lines and back zippers. The full skirts of the 50's and early 60's are replaced with straight skirts for dress, a-line for a casual look.  Pants are still straight legged and shorts are starting to get shorter. Shoes had pointy toes....the chunky look had yet to make its debut.  Easy to Make/Easy to wear drawstring dresses are in order for a sweet mother-daughter look.
These patterns were available for 50 cents through mail order.

By the Sea: Retro Beach Wear to Sew

By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea……old song that sticks in my head when I think of the beach. Even though the summer is almost over in the Northern Hemisphere, it's spring down under and there's always those winter getaways to warmer weather. Bathing suits are required, of course, but loose fitting sundresses, halter dresses, and casual wear are befitting. With that said, here's a few retro beach looks to drool over.
