Everyone's get excited when they have a chance to save money but time and money? That's like hit out of the park. I wrote about this some time ago but after using the link last night I thought I would share it again.
When you ship packages, use Paypal for shipping labels. Most people know about Paypal when they purchase items but don't know about Paypal when shipping.
Here's the link:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now
OK, a Paypal account is helpful but since so many folks do now I need to show a trick before the holidays come and long lines form at the post office.
Use the link when shipping. That's the trick. That's it. Put in the address, what type of shipping, i.e., Priority, First Class, etc. and the shipping costs go to the Paypal account. When that's done hit "Print" for your label....you still need labels.
Put the label on the package, make sure the package is ready for traveling long miles, the label is on, and it's ready to go.
Bypass the lines when you drop it off or schedule a pick-up.
Done.
Easy-peasy.
You're Welcome.

Corn Prices Are Going Up
The drought that is cooking the United States has ruined the corn crop. Corn prices are expected to climb and since it is used in so many things, from fuel (ethanol) to candy, prices are expected to rise in EVERYTHING. For a tightwad who likes corn, like me, I am going to have a problem with this. I like corn, on the cob, grits, corn bread, and corn fritters, and the hubby loves corn on his mashed potatoes (not my fave). I know there isn't much I can do about some of these things but I can do something. I can stockpile a bit of corn products.
Let's face it, though, stockpiling anything isn't worthwhile if it goes bad or bugs get in it. One thing that grosses me out is bugs (weevils) in grain foods. It happens when the bugs leave eggs in the grain and the eggs hatch in your cupboard. Freeze the food, flour, meal, noodles, whatever, and you kill the eggs. It also keeps the meal fresh a lot longer than it would ordinarily.
So, here's the deal. Buy now and use your freezer, but only buy if you'll use it and eat it. No sense in buying something you won't or don't eat. Save that money.....you'll need it for gas.

Coupons, Freebies, and Saving Money
For those who haven't figured it out yet, I like to shop. Not only do I like to shop, I like to save money while shopping, and before I forget, get freebies. I figure, I have to buy some things, so I might as well save as many little Lincolns as possible. With that in mind, I thought I would post some of my favorite links to saving those little Lincolns, and maybe a buck or two.
Oh yeah, before I forget, there is usually freebies offered, too. Let's face it, there is just something special about getting something in the mail for nothing. It's like Christmas all the time! Yippee! And I am all about free.
So here goes. These are some super good sites with links to save a buck. Some give coupons, others tell you what's on sale where, and, just look. You'll see what I mean. Too cool to pass up.
The fabuLESS Never Pay Retail Again Daily Deal Digest
Here's the link: http://neverpayretailagain.blogspot.com/
This one is my fave. Links to whatever is on sale in my neck of the woods (FL) but some all-over-the-country stuff, too.
ConsumerQueen.com
http://www.consumerqueen.com/
Not bad. Always new stuff to check out.
Red Plum
http://www.redplum.com/Default.aspx
Lots of stuff. Lots of coupons. They're the folks that put the coupons in the Sunday papers. Need I say more?
Here's a site I just found (I don't want to say new because it probably isn't).
My Baton Rouge Mommy
http://www.mybatonrougemommy.com/
Lots of coupons and links.
I'm sure most folks have favorites of their own. Share them. We all need to save a buck with this economy.
OK, there you go. Go forth and save money!!

Just about done with another class, Epidemiology, so I can get back to blogging about life. The class wasn't too bad with an awesome professor. A few more classes and I will be able to walk for my BSN diploma. It's been a journey for me but I am enjoying it. I wish I had done it sooner. I could blame putting it off on lots of things, kids, marriage, money, and those are all good reasons, partly true, but the real reason was me. Hard headed, I wanted to do more than nursing, something else besides nursing. I still do but that's O.K. A Bachelor's degree is a degree well-earned and I am working damned hard for it. I am going to walk with my head held high when I get that diploma. It's been a long time coming.
