Hi, everyone!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I traveled to see family....long over due and had a great time.  I've been busy getting ready for my mission trip to Haiti, too. Got lots of supplies to take with me. Everyone has been generous and helpful. I hope I can do some good.

After several days of no internet my Wi-Fi is finally up and running. Talk about withdrawals. I kept staring at it waiting for it to work. Pathetic.  Seems a small rodent-type animal ate through my wires. Double Ugh! Nothing like no wi-fi to amp up my anxiety just before the big Costume Sewing Pattern Sale.

Remembering Oscar de la Renta

Last week the fashion world lost a one of its greatest designers, Oscar de la Renta. His beautiful dresses were seen by so many. The designs were flattering and beautiful.

The scarf pictured is an Oscar; pure silk, rich with color, ready to accent an outfit.  21 inches square and in excellent condition. It is in the MissEileen Vintage shop.

 

These lovely patterns were in my GoofingOff Sewing shop when I first started. Beautiful Vogue American Designer patterns; true Oscar....flattering, and sensuous; just the way a woman wants to feel when she dresses up. 

 Though Mr. de la Renta is gone, his influence will continue to be felt in the fashion world.

Vogue 8035 Seventies Style

Vogue 8035 from the early 1970's.
Vogue patterns printed before the 1980's often didn't have a copyright date. This is one of them.
An a-line dress with round collar at knee length; shortened to below hip length and worn with pants. Pantsuits were often a preferred look at the office for women as styles changed in the early 70's.

Sometimes I see a pattern and just say “Oh my!” Can’t help it. I don’t know if it is the color or the cut of the dress, or it’s the way I wish I would look if I was in it. Here’s a few dress patterns that meet my “Oh My” criteria.

1950’s Simplicity 3265 Flared Skirt, Top, Bolero, and Cummerbund. A hard-to-find, totally gorgeous pattern.

McCall’s 7003 in size 14, bust 34, from 1963. Uncut with factory folds!

Originally featured in Butterick Home Catalog Winter 1969, Butterick 5506 in size 16, bust 38 inches.

1970s Sewing Pattern Vogue Paris Original 1244 Nina Ricci Dress Gorgeous dress, this pattern is undated and complete.

Simplicity 8605 Surfer wear in size 10-12. Just right for hanging at the beach. Easy to sew, easy to pull on after a day in the water. Can’t dress up all the time.

 

Matryoshka Russian Dolls Fabric…in fat quarters. This is 100% cotton fabric. The color is vibrant.
